Welcome DSMS. We are looking forward to reading your shared comments and reflections here. Please check back often!
This blog is great. I really like how DS is using blogging to keep people informed on school activities, like with the Headmaster's blog. This blog is great too, and provides great information.
Hello. This is a wonderful and exciting time for all of us as we prepare to watch the Inauguration on Tuesday. Please feel free to comment here.
Thank you,
Mrs. Donato
mlk is the man
I liked the speach it was really interesting. I thought the essembly was really fun! But I thought last years essembly better.
MLK IS REALLY INSPIRING AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN INAUGURATION BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE AND IT IS INTERESTING TO SEE HOW ITS DONE
I liked the assembly. It wasnt talking all of the time, and it got you moving. The music was great.
Watching the inauguration was really fun and watching was very intersting. The assembley was a fantastic expierience.
I thought the inogoration was very sad because i did not want Obama to become president. I did like the assembely about Martin Luther King because i like to learn about our history.
I liked the assembly because i liked how they brought the jazz musician to the school and how Mr.hoover played up with them. It was really important to me also because seeing a president who cares about the enviornment and cares about the people and theat people with such a big age difference can get alopng so well in polotics.
I like the poem in the inaugeration. it was really intresting.
i liked the inauguration it was very important because Obama is the first african american president in United states history
I like listening to the MLK assembly. Also i like how Obama is president. It was fun and educational event to listen to.
i like that we finally have a african american president
I liked watching the inauguration because it showed that anyone can become president. It was exciting to see Biden and Obama swear an oath, and have a new president.
This was the first presidential inauguration that i watched. There were many great speeches and it was a chance for me to watch American history.
I really liked watching the inaguration during school. I thought that it was very important to be part of this great day in history, and that it was very educational as well. My favorite part of the assembly was watching the slide show of all of the artwork that the students in our school had created. I really loved seeing how everyone can show how they feel by their drawings. There were a lot of peace signs and words of change. I hope that in four years when we have another inaguration we can watch it in school. I'm glad I was able to watch the inaguration, and see one of America's greatest moments in history.
Watching the speech today ment a lot to me because this is a very big day in history and it ment a lot for me to hear the speech and witness it. The assembly also ment a lot to me because it shows how far we have come as a country.
In the inauguration I liked Barack's speech and how he said "60 years ago you could not be served at a resutrant and now I am standing up here making an oath to the United States"
Hola. I really enjoyed how we got to watch the inaguration of Barack Obama. It was important to me because I will definetley remember it due to the fact it was the inaguration of the first African-American president. It was also enjoyable for me because I am a fan of Barack Obama ALL THE WAY!
!peace out!
barack shows that isrealies are not just terrorists because he has iraeli deritidge
I liked watching the inauguration live because if you watch it live than you will remember it for a long time instead of just remembering it for a couple days because you didn't see it live.
i think this is a great day in history and we were very greatful that our country is finalyl allowing an african american president
This inauguration was the first ever that I have seen in my life. It was very interesting to watch president elect Barack Obama become president Barack Obama. It was cool to watch.
Mr. George Russell, Jr. (the performer at the assembly) said that the DSMS audience was one of the best audiences he has ever played for. He said that the students were respectful and full of spirit!
The jazz band was awesome from the MLK assembly. I was absent but, I heard from my friends that it was "pretty cool". The 2 lead alto saxaphones were awesome. The picture slideshow was cool. I liked Elisa's poem.
I thought president Obama's speech was really cool. There were about 2 million people there which was about 5 times the amount of people at president Bush's inauguration.
NASA took a picture from space of the inauguration. Yo-Yo Ma was awesome.
I really liked the speech but I want to know who messed up the Brack Obama or the minister
MLK is awesome and I think Obama will pursue his dream!!!!
My favorite part of the MLK assembly was the picture slideshow and how they mixed the speeches with the pictures. Now about the inauguration, I thought Obama did a great job with the speech, and it was great to witness history.
i thought that the assembly was really fun. it was cool how they brought in a band form Berkley Collage.
i thought the inaguration was really cool but i was really nervous during the inaguration. i was watching it at home after school and the parade to the white house was amasing. i thought that cadilac one was so cool.

i thought the assembly on friday was great and well planned out. there was so much people at the inauguration you could see it from space!
I thought the MLK assembly was great. i aspecially the slide show!
I though that president Obama's speech was fantastic.
The Cheif Justice said the oath in the wrong order so Obama said the correct thing!!!
The Jazz peoples were awsome becaause you got to sing along and clap. The Jazz band were great. The poems wich the girls presented were faboulus.
The speech was great and the crowd was huge and there wwas like 2 million people.
Okaaaay... THE INAUGURATION WAS AWESOME!!!! Even through I don't like Bush's decisions, he is NOT a bad guy. I throught it was UNBELIEVABLE TERRIBLE of the people who booed Bush as he was leaving office. He just made a few tough decisions. I fell bad for him. I LOVED President Obama's speech. He didn't say: "America, we are great!" He said what was happening.
The assembly was cool! The pro jazz band was INCREDIBLE!!
i thought the MLK was very long but very entertanig and all the speackers did a great job!!!!
people sayed that 5 billon people got a piece of the speech
i really like mlk assembly i lerned so much the band that played was so good and cachy
im glad i was there
I thought that the inaugoration was pretty cool. Omama was able to present the speech good.
I also thought that the MLK presentation was realy cool. THe music was awsome.
I wasnt at the assembly but i heard it was good. i liked the inauguration.
I wasnt at the assembly but i heard it was good. i liked the inauguration.
I liked the music and instruments. It was interesting and awesome. We thought it was really interesting to watch two people were present at the inauguration as well as at MLK's "I have a dream" speech.
Obama made a good speech, but it was really confusing. Bush rocks my socks off! I HOPE Obama would be that good...
~c ya!
I LIKED THE MUSIC AND PICTURES IN THE ASSEMBLY AND THE INAUGURATION WAS FUN TO WATCH.
i thought yoyoma had a spectacular performance. i wish that i could have an
inauguration every day, i would inaugerate everything and everyone
I really enjoyed the speech that Obama made at the Inauguration. It was really good. It's awesome to have a multi-racial president in office.
I thought that Obama made a good speech and the inaguration was very good and entertaining. I thought the singer had a good voice and the musical insturments onsamble was great. I also thought that all of the speeches were really good.
inaugerations are just so exciting i wish that every day i could have an inauguration i'd inaugurate everything trees, plants, people, the school and teachers.
Congrats Barack
i thought it was really moving to watch a president be sworn into office. I also really liked the MLK assembly, my favorite part of the assenbly was watching the performers.
I loved the assembly. It was fun to be able to interact and participate by clapping in the assembly. I was a good way to start off the long weekend.
the assembly was interesting. I liked listening to the music. Obama and MLK are awesome!!
i thought i was good becaues it was a very historical moment. i liked obama speech and i also liked the music that they played at the inauguration.
i think that barack obama will have a huge impact on the us and other contries i fell as though other countries will view us as more open minded and that we've changed sine the 1960's
I think that Barack Obama will have a huge impact on the U.S. and other contries. I fell as though other countries will view us as more open-minded and that we've changed since the 1960s. I feel that the Barack Obama administration should put the war and healthcare as their first priorities. I feel as though these are most important.
I liked the inauguration, I thought Obama did a great job. I think his first priority should be to restore the economy. I also think he should prioritize health care, since it is not at its greatest now.
I want Obama's main focus to be on global warming and the economy. The world is where we live, and the utmost importance to our lives. We must save the world and other animal. without the world, no one will be able to live. His other goal should be to help the US's economy. The economy is most important, and is the backbone of the nation.
I liked seeing the "crazy" amount of people at the Inauguration. I liked the music at the assembly. It was cool. Aretha Franklin and Yo-Yo Ma were awesome!
the guitar player at the MLK asembely was da bomb!!!!!
i liked that we still remember martin luther king
The Jazz Band was awesome! The other band was pretty good too. I loved how we got to miss school for both the inauguration and the MLK assembly.
I liked the assembly because we learned about MLK and im glad he helped the civil rights movement because the color of your skin doesn't matter. I liked the music and how they let us clap and stuff
OMG!!!!!
ARETHA FRANKLIN WAS DA' BOMB!
ALSO YO-YO MA IS THE COOLEST NAME IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND!
OBAMA WAS GOOD AS WELL.
The #9 jazz band was da bomb. The music is still stuck in my ears. I watched the "I Have A Dream" speech on CNN and I thought of how i would feel if our world was still like that!
~MCN
The assembly was fun. The music was great. It was fun learning about mlk.It was fun clapping and stuff.
The music was awesome at both the inaugaration and the MLK assembly
I thought the music at the Inauguratin was good. Obama di da great job with his speach!
What I liked most about the essembly was that everyone was having fun. Also the bands did a great job performing.
Great Job to the jazz band! ENCORE ENCORE ENCORE!!
It is SO cool how MLK's birthday and the ignuragtion were back to back! the music was fabulouis!
WOW! The band was amazing! Brava to the band! The childrens painting were GORGEOUS! :D!
i like that we had a great assemblyremembering the king
The assembly was a lot of fun. I liked the band and that the songs were upbeat instead of all depressed. I liked getting up and clapping along. The Jazz Band was amazing, too. I also liked the slides of peoples' art. I loved doing the MLK social studies thing, too! It was an awesome all-school unit/series of events.
One thing I really liked about the inauguration was that i could understand it. It was great to be a part of this, that we will look back on and by the time we have kids, they'll be saying "We just got a half Asian-Half Latino president. We've made it a long way." And it's really cool that we got to see this all happen for the first time ever. He made a really good point in his speech- 60 years ago he couldn't be served in a resteraunt and now he is president!
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ UUUUUUUUUUUPPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!
Aretha Franklin and YO-YO MA(it would have been better if his name Yo yo mama) were DA BOMB!!!!!!!! The Jazz Band wuz the best becuz I was in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is SO cool that MLK day and the ignuration were back to back!
I liked the assembley, the music was awesome!!! It was cool how we watched the inaguration in school
I AM SO HAPPY THAT WE THE PEOPLE OF THE U.S.A HAVE ELECTED THE FIRST BLACK PRESADENT!!!!!!! I also think that the assembly was a grate example of freedom!!!!
I liked how the jazz band performed and the songs that were played by the band that came. I liked how Barack Obama's speech was so interesting and how it was very inspiring. HIS SPEECH WAS AMAZING AND IT MUST HAVE INSPIRED MANY AMERICANS. I THINK HE WILL HELP OUR NATION. I think he will be one of the greatest presidents and we will have to re-elect him !?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
The assembly was awesome and so was the inaguration. The 6th grade stuident council was the best part of the whole assembly also the band was fun, it was great singing. Most of the songs were great! The innaguration was fun since I have never seen one and this one made history by a long shot! Aretha Franklin's version of the song was great! It was funny how Obama messed up the oath of office a little! I can't wait 'til next MLK assembly!!!
First the announcers at the assembly were the best! Then the live band was good too! The assebly reminded me and other students how important MLK was to our country! I can't wait till the next assembly it will be soooo much fun!I can't believe how many people there were at the Inauguration(i think it said there were 47,000 tickets to the Inaugurations sold!) The Inauguration was awesome i got to miss class!!! It was interesting at the begining but then it got a little boring but some interesting points in the Inauguration caught my eye! I liked Aretha Franklin(nice hat by the way!) She sang her own version of My country tis of thee! It was funny how Obama and the priest kinda messed up on the Oath of Office (they both practiced it different ways, at least thats what i heard!) Overall i thought the Inauguration and the assembly were great! Everybody included in both of those events were amazing!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!
I thought it was really cool that we got to witness history that we will tell our grandkids about. It's amazing that MLK's dream is coming true so quickly.
I think that we have realized MLK's dream of having a non-racial society. At Obama's Inauguration, people were going crazy. 40 years ago, people would be throwiks at him.
obama is inspiring. he is role model to all of the poeple in the united states.
I liked the slideshow part the best because it was cool to see people's drawings about MLK.
I liked the assembly alot but it was was not much much fun. If the assembley had more music it would of been more interesting.
the assembley was fun. the music was good and so was the jazz band.
i liked the speach bacuse i thought obama's ideas were very good. but it sort of got boring after a while becuase i thought it was way to long. i thought the signer and band was really good and i enjoyed listening to them. i think it would be so cool to be obama/s kids becuase now they get to live in the white house. i agree that the assembly was way better last year and the band did a lot more songs that got us excited. plus i thought it was really short compared to last year and the slie show was very short also. there werent ass many speakers as last year wich i enjoyed but there wasnt enough about MLK. i did like how they let some of the kids in the school share thier speeches or poems, i thought that was cool. it was a very intersting idea to add Mr. Hoover to the bands last song. that was cool!! after all the assembly and inogeration wasnt that bad, i sort of enjoyed them :)
I think the inauguration was amazing. It the kind of thing that I will tell my grandkids about. I think it is a shame we didn't watch a video of the "I Have a Dream" speech, since the only time I saw it was the Saturday after it on TV. I also think we should have continued watching it until President Obama saw Mr. Bush off into the helicopter. Yo-Yo Ma was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Oye Como Va was awesome (because i was in the jazz band. Barack's Speech was really cool too
Barack Obama is awesome!!!
O-ba-ma! O-ba-ma!O-ba-ma!!!
I absolutely loved the concert. I found listening to the performers to be a lot of fun. The music really cheered me up. Also, it was really nice to see all of the pictures that kids made to symbolize peace. I was in the Jazz band, and I enjoyed making a contribution to the assembly
i was suposed to do this for mrs lutz to count for HW.
i thyink the inogeratino was interesting i personally did not want obama to win but i am happy that the war is over and we will get a little change in office. yaaaaaa.....
I thought obama's speech was great. HE is going to have a hard time as president. He will need to adress the issues of global warming, energy independence, a failing economy and terrible healthcare. It is a good thing he has so many smart people in his cabinet like Treasury Secretary Geithner
You are all so thoughtful and reflective here. Even those of you who don't support President Obama have found a way to be positive and supportive of this historic moment.
I have never watched an actual inauguration before. Prior to this, I have only seen clips on evening new programs. It was so impressive that I think I will always remember President Obama's hopeful statements, his encouragement for Americans to work together, and the general atmosphere of celebration.
What do you think you will remember?
I thought the inaguration was great. I think Obama was very classy in how he was with GW Bush until he got onto the helicopter. Now that the Obama administration is here I want them to put the economy and, both the war in Iraq and Afghanistan at the top of their prioit
I hope that Obama will get us out of this recession! It will take some time and sacrifices, but we'll get there! OBAMA!
(Jazz Band Rules!)
Grade 8 SS Hw(p.7)
I think the Obama admisistration should have many major priorities right now and need to start right away. In order of most importance I think the first priority of the administration should be to fix the economy. This is because the poor economy is hurting and affection so many people right now. Second then would be global warming and other enviormental issues because they too are affecting many people now and even more so in the future. A tie for second place would be the war in the Middle East. U.S. soldiers are in dangerous positions each day. I think they should pull out of the Middle East to see how theydo with out the U.S. Yesterday I went to the 9/11 memorial in Boston which reminded me of the issue of Homeland Security. Many people are worried now about Terrorists and such. Another issue that should be another top priorityis healthcare. People need to feel safe by having healthcare and having it when a time requires it. These are some of the priorities I think the Obama admisnistration should focus on. I wish them good luck because of the prodigous job left for them to clean up.
I think Obama should focus on the economy and energy issues. Obama will have a difficult time reversing America's downfall (thank you Bush), but by the end of his 4, possibly 8,years as president i am hopeful he will lead us to our former glory. Our image as a nation needs to be reshaped. We should lend a helping hand to countries in need, and save people from hostile nations. Alternative fuels? Those should be a priority. Now that Bush is gone(say goodbye), we should start rebuildintg immediatly.
I think the assembly was good, but it was a little loud. My homework, was to post the awnser to a hw question on the blog. I think Obama needs to priortize, and think about where to spend taxes. He has promised to waste 300B$ on the reaserch of alternate fuels, and raise taxes. I think ot would be better if he rederected that money to more important cuases, such as the miltrary. Also, Police officers dont get free Bulet-proof vests, so theres an area where he can spend tax dollars, where they will have a postive impact, as opposed to a negtive one. I think he also needs to stop his plan to Raise taxes for 5% of americans, as this will only worsen an alredy bad econmic stiuation.
I thought that Obama's speach was great! He is such a good talking and speach giver. He is able to be confident even though he is about to lead teh most powerful contry in the world. That is good though since he is the president. He should be good
im really happy that obama won because its cool to have a black president. obamas priorities should be to take care of the environment and fix our low economy. also he has a huge impact on everyone in america because he is the first black president.
i thought that the speech Obama made was excellent!
I thought that Barack Obama's speech was amazing. I thought it was strange when the chief Justice gave Barack Obama the wrong words. It is to bad that such an amazing historical moment didn't go quite as planned, but over all I thought it was a fantastique inauguration. The only thing is I thought that the unaugural poem sounded to choppy.
I think the president can have a lot of impact on the whole country. I would really like to see him focuse on saving the environment. I would like it if he made certain laws that will halp the environment. If everybody could reduce their carbon footprint signifigantly I think that it would really help Global warming.
I also want to see President Obamaend the war peacefully and soon. Every month longer that it takes to end the war more people die, and are away from their families that much longer. Ending the war would be a signifigant change. Those are two very important priorities that I think the president should focuse on.
There are many priorities and problems Obama must face. I think the biggest problem has to be the economy. The poor economy is forcing companies to go out of business, and people to lose their jobs and their money. I think this problem must be fixed before any other action. After we have restored the economy, we must deal with all international affairs. We must peacefully walk away from Iraq, capture Osama bin Laden and destroy Al Quaeda. America must also take back its role as a leader in the world to help all people, from the mountains and cities of the Americas, to the deserts of Africa, to the great people of the East. May we be your allies now and for years and decades to come.
mlk saves the day
The inauguration was really cool.
Barack was good to. It was surprising they messed up though.
i want him to pull back the troops from war and thinking about the economy as well as the enviorment. hopefully this can all happen but i know that being the prtesident is a tough job to do and he needs to transfer himself and get adjusted
I really like Obama. I think that this country really needs him. We've had the same president for 8 years so it's definetly time for change. I'm hopeful that Barack Obama will be able to help us in; the war on terror, and the economic crisis.
FOR MRS LUTZ. Period 7
I think that there are 2 major issues obama has to deal with. The war, the economy, education and healthcare. I believe Obama has a good plan for each. He has a 16 month evac. plan for Iraq. He will move some of those soldies into Afghanistan. This morning on the news i heard that he is lready discussing a $850 billion dollar economic stimulis plan. He will change some of the laws that limit education such as the NCLB act. He will also help many citizens with their healthcare.I belive he will be a very good president.
I want Obama to have the economy, global warming, and national security as his foremost priorities because once these national issues are solved, I believe that these will affect the other small issues that the country has and make it better overall.
HW ~ post views
on Obama from last nights HW -
"I would really like Obama to focus more on overal costs (oil, gas, items, ect...) and to make healthcare more affordable and available to everyone. if we're going to make this a difference, and change the world, shouldn't we have the health/strenght to do it? remeber (as one of my BFFL's said) "WE ARE AMERI*CANS* not AMERI*CAN'TS*". "
i want him to focus on the economy most of all and hopefully he will help it alot and have an even better economy than we did be 4 it got bad i think he wil have a huge impact becuz hes the first afrikan american pres. so he could help alot i think that his administrators should focus more on the more important things like the war and stuff like that
zac peri0d 7
Last time there was a change in office I was in Kindergarten so I didn't raelly understand how important it was. Now that Barack Obama is the president I would like to see a change in energy efficiency to help the environment. I would also like the president try hard to help the economy;especially because we are in the situation that we are in right now. Overall I think America made a good choice.
1. One of the symbols that saw was the presidential seal
2. One person that I recognized was the Clinton family.
3. One thing from his speech that I liked was when hey mentioned that his father used to not even be served at a restaurant.
4. I thought that it was how this is the star of a new America.
5. No
6. Hopeful and excited to see what he will do.
7.I would really like to see Obama closed down Guantanamo Bay. I think that this is really violating a lot of peoples rights.
I think Obama's main objective should be to inspire people to improve their own lives and lives around them, not just rely on the government. He should also work hard to build up a trust between the people and the government, so they can work together to form a better nation. I think Obama has a great influence on the American people because he already has their attention from being the first black president and being charismatic, and now he just needs to use that attention to inspire and improve our country.
Obama needs to work on the problems of the united states. Also he is cool.
I thought the speech Barack Obama gave was really good, but it didn't really compare to the I have a dream speech. It probably won't become as famous but it was still really good, and more people will remember the inaguration than what Obama said.
I think that obama will have a huge impact on the u.s. I think that his top priorities will be to first fix the economy. Next, I hope that he will fix the conflicts over in iraq&Afghanastan. Hopefully, he will make peace with those countries. HE will have a big impact also because some many hard things are happening now--from the conomy to the global warming crisis. I hope that President Obama will help our country no matter what he decides to do.
the first thing i want to see the Obama administration follow through with is their plan to build loads of hydrogen powered vehicles by 2012. The priorities i want the president to have is First. take control of the economic crisis in America. Second i want to see him follow through with his plan to create more fuel/ economic efficient vehicles. Lastly I want to see President Obama show the american public the true meaning of equality no matter color or religion.
I was really excited to see the first African American president sworn into office yesterday during the inauguration! It was really cool to see how it was done, because I had never seen one before! I thought it was a great commitment of the people of the US, showing that they really are ready for CHANGE! I think that President Obama will have a huge impact on the US, if he uses his time in office wisely and focuses his full attention on the issues at hand. I think that some of the issues at the top of Obama's list should be the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and also the shrinking economy.
Personally, I think Bush left our country in pieces. Who will bring the U.S. back to the country we have made it to be but Obama. I am very anxious to see what amazing things he will do. He returns hope to the many people who have lost everything and brings smiles to the faces who have suffered so much. We need our country to unite again. In his speech he gave many future jobs that must be done. Like he said, if you doubt this country can accomplish them all then look back to what we have already done and the challenges already faced. Sacrifices and courage all went into this country with the strength of the people. He will bring our sick earth back to health, provide everyone with healthcare, bring jobs and companies back to life. Also, he will secure the blessings and the people who have been scarred by the hatred and violence still occuring today. All the things the country has already done in our history can be extended to benefit us in the future. Compare yourself to the people who have died for this country and think of the pride you have to represent your home. I especially want Obama to make an impact on the Global Warming and our economy. I want America to be the place where people say "the raods are paved with gold" and right now our economy is dropping. Lastly, I think the war should be handled with apropriately and not to be left with soldiers and their hope to win this war. Obama will be a role model for future presidents and will hopefully improve our country one day at a time.
I thought Obamas speech was really good and well thought out. He delivered it well too. Also i liked how he compared now to back at the Battle of Trenton. I think Barack needs to focus on the economy and being green
I think president Obama needs to focus on the issues hitting America the hardest. The major one is the financial and mortgage crisis, this is really hurting a lot of already impoverished Americans, especially the small business owners. Second Obama needs to focus on realizable and clean energy, however I think he should leave the solution to the United States energy problem to the scientists who specialize in alternative energy.
I think that Obama will make a great president!! I just hope he makes better decisions than Bush. I want him to focus on the war in Iraq and Afgansitan, and finding alternatives for fuel and energy.
i woukld want Obama to pay more attention to the less fortunet people and start suggesting that people try to recycle. And help with global warming.
I thought it was interesting to watch and had never seen an inauguration. And it was very exciting to see. Hi ms donato.
I would like Obama to focus on Guantanimo Bay at the start of his term, because it needs to be focused on more. I think it has alot of problems that need to be addressed and the prisoners need to be looked at more carefully before thrown in jail. People were thrown in with out a trial and held indefinitly. I think even if they are not American citizens they should get a fair trial.
I hope that Obama will help the economy, the war in iraq, and as i have recently learned about, the war in iraq.
Barrack Obama has great potential. despite all of the political conflicts he has to deal with i would really like to see him incorporate alternative fuels into the economy we are all rebuilding. This would help America in the transition from gasoline to a new energy source. I know barrack wants to leave Iraq but he has to make sure that the government can support itself. He also needs to reinforce Afghanistan with more soldiers. I believe it has been forgotten that Osama Bin Laden and Afghanistan are the real reason why we need to remain a force in the middle east. That brings me to the next issue. Obama can pull the troops out of iraq but he needs to keep a strong military prescence in the middle east. it is the only way to deal with the ongoing violence. Moving on something that i would really like to see Barrack Obama do is to put an end to all the petty arguments in the government. Than it can use it's full potential to fix the conflicts in AMERICA! Also for barrack Obama to truly be succsful in my eyes the illegal immigrant rate should drop considerably over the next few years. Even if they have to build a massive wall. All in all there are big tasks ahead for Barrack Obama. He has talked the talk, let's see him walk the walk.
Obama should start out with the war in Iraq. Its our biggest problem right now and Obama needs to solve it as soon as possible, because people are getting hurt, and the whole operation is getting nowhere. Obama should then focus on health care because Americans aren't getting the health care they need. America needs Obama to help us strive to be a better nation, as soon as possible. We need to unite, to form a more perfect nation, as the preamble says.
I love Aretha Franklin's hat so cool!! Yo-Y-Ma was pretty cool. do you know he played at Kennedy's inauguration when he was only nine years old! That rocks.
I want Barrack to cover two issues the war and economy i would first cover the economy because the state that it is at is very bad. By fixing the economy we will be able to focus more on the war.
I had the good fortune to actually be present at the inauguration. Everyone was so excited. We all wanted Obama to come out, so whenever it seemed like he was about to and he didn't, everyone groaned. It was so crowded that I could barely move, and the National Mall had to be closed off. As I watched the ceremonies, I especially noticed Obama's inaugural address because he didn't talk about his policies, he talked about OUR problems and the values we would need to solve them. He found a way to relate to everyone. I thought that it was a brilliant way to start his term.
Thanks for putting up a place for us to comment on the inauguration and make connections with our past, Mrs. Donato and Mr. Grove. It is so interesting to read the posts from DS students about Obama's presidency- so many brought up valid concerns for the years ahead. Obama has a long "to - do" list. The important thing to remember is that change will not happen quickly. But, hopefully, it will happen!
